The Health & Safety Executive recently issued Asbestos: The Survey Guide (HSG264).
The new guidance is specifically aimed at surveyors who carry out asbestos surveys and those who commission the surveys. (Client / Duty Holders).
The client/duty holder has been given more guidance in the selection of the inspection body/surveyor and their own responsibilities under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 reinforced.

TWO free workshops to help businesses manage asbestos problems are to be staged later this year.
Dates for the Hambleton District Council-run sessions – in Northallerton and Richmond – will be organised to suit business leaders wanting to attend.
Anyone interested in attending one of the seminars should contact the council’s Environmental Health technical support team on 0845 1211 555 by July 23.

A Preston pensioner who developed cancer after being exposed to asbestos five decades ago has received more than £160,000 in compensation.
The 72-year-old, who does nor want to be named, worked as an engineer with Leyland Motors from 1953 until 1958.
Exposed to asbestos during the work he did as a teenager, it was more than 50 years before the asbestos severely affected his health and led to him developing mesothelioma.

This is Hampshire have reproted Residents have vowed to fight controversial plans to store asbestos at a waste site that backs onto homes in a Hampshire village.
Solent Environmental Services wants to install a large-scale skip at its headquarters in Holbury as a temporary holding site for the toxic material.
